Ham Sales 2002
Thanks to all of the Scouts and their families who sold hams this season. We had a very successful fund raiser with approximately 160 orders taken and selling about 76 hams at Smithfield Downs right out of the truck! A special thanks to Walter Schmincke for setting this up for us and to Mr. Robert Wren and Gwaltney Foods for providing the truck and support we needed to be successful.
Interesting facts about the hams we sold:
"A delicious sugar cured, honey glazed, spiral cut ham each weighing in at about 8.25 lbs. This ham is fully cooked, and sliced, just heat and eat. It doesn't get simpler than that. Are you having a Super Bowl party? Well, this ham unopened, freshly packed yesterday, will last 56 days in the refrigerator. Hey, and if you haven't opened it by then well just put it in the freezer and it will keep for (Sorry, Walter I forgot) months in the freezer. These hams will help with all of our Cub Scout programs and awards. You may send a kid to camp. We have some Cub Scouts around here somewhere." Walter Schmincke selling a ham
